The I-Q
Corridor lacks the critical mass of entrepreneurial
capital found on the coasts. To help make better use of
our resources, the Wisconsin Angel Network links
early-stage investors along the I-Q Corridor, thereby
spreading more capital throughout the region which
diversifies portfolios and gives investors more
opportunities to make investments. By making capital
connections, WAN is helping to invigorate the I-Q
Corridor's early-stage market and, in turn, our economy.

Midwest Venture Summit |
|
More than 400 investors, entrepreneurs and
professionals attended the Midwest
Venture Summit in Chicago March 17-18. WAN and
co-organizers brought together 30 angels and
early-stage investors from 10 organizations to
discuss deal syndication along the I-Q Corridor.
The beginning of a basic framework on sharing
deals has been agreed upon, with more details to
be discussed at the next I-Q Corridor Investors'
meeting scheduled for June 9 during the Entrepreneurs'
Conference in Milwaukee.
The overall mood at the Summit was extremely
positive, with investors concerned about the
current economic climate but knowing their
early-stage investment portfolios' success is
measured on a long-term horizon.

Best Practices from Wisconsin
|
|
|
The National Governors
Association reviewed state practices designed to
encourage angel investing, resulting in a report
on best practices across the nation. The Tech
Council's and the Wisconsin Angel Network's
efforts to encourage and assist the early-stage
market were highlighted in a number of areas of
the report. To download the NGA's State

The Midwest Venture Summit brought together investors
from across the country to view and discuss deals in our
region. Despite negative economic news, investors' attitudes
were extremely positive, giving hope the early-stage
investment market will continue expand along the I-Q Corridor.
If you are an investor interested in the I-Q Corridor
investment scene, meet up with other members of the community
on June 9 in Milwaukee during the Entrepreneurs'
Conference.
