The development of the Wisconsin Angel Network has been a community event with many supporters helping us create and improve our programs and initiatives. We are currently conducting an online survey in order to gauge which services and resources are having the most impact on the early stage investment market.  If you have not already done so, please follow this link to the survey and share your ideas and comments.  Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to share their thoughts.

ModelWisconsin: A Model for Economic Development

New Brunswick learns from Wisconsin
The results of Wisconsin's efforts at promoting economic development have made Wisconsin a model for New Brunswick, Canada as the province works to enhance its entrepreneurial economy. A news story published by the New Brunswick Business Journal reviewed Wisconsin's success in creating policies and programs that lead to job creation and early stage investment. Inspired by Wisconsin's achievements, New Brunswick recently created small business investor tax credits and launched a business plan competition similar to the Wisconsin Governor's Business Plan Competition. ModelNew Findings on Venture Capital

New survey and report on the future direction for the VC industry
A new survey from the National Venture Capital Association (NVCA) showed a trend toward international investment by venture capital firms, which may mean U.S. start-ups will face even greater challenges in attracting early financing. To curb these trends, the survey's respondents suggested governments write more favorable tax policies and do more to encourage entrepreneurial activity.

A separate report from the Kauffman Foundation suggests that the shrinking U.S. VC market may lead to improved investment performance and drive firms toward other sources of financing, including angels.

WisBusiness.comWisBusiness.com Releases Its First Tech Leaders Survey

Tech leaders' poll reflects concern about today; optimism about tomorrow
Despite the ongoing challenges of the current economy, a new Wisbusiness.com, conducted in partnership with the Wisconsin Technology Council and The Luminis Group, showed that tech company executives are optimistic that recovery is on the horizon and that Wisconsin is ready for the future. Of the 277 executives who responded to the survey, nearly three-quarters rated the prospects for their companies as good or excellent and almost 80 percent gave a similar appraisal of the present labor market's ability to meet their companies' personnel needs.
