Organization Overview
WAN is a subsidiary of the non-profit Wisconsin Technology
Council and was formed to fuel the growth of entrepreneurial financing in order
to turn research and ideas into viable, job-creating businesses. WAN’s mission is to build early stage capital
capacity throughout the state in order to increase the number and dollar amount
of equity investments in Wisconsin
companies. By accomplishing this goal,
WAN is helping to expand Wisconsin’s
economy and workforce into the high-tech, high-wage arena -- which has been
identified as vital to continuing the rejuvenation of our state’s economy.
Position Overview
The angel coordinator will assist the Wisconsin Angel
Network’s director with many aspects of the organization, including: member
communications, event planning and coordination, marketing material
preparation, website maintenance, government and public relations and angel
investment research.
Responsibilities are varied and will include continual
training and mentoring throughout the internship.
Examples of activities follow:
Member Communications
- Responding
to inquiries on membership and WAN operations
- Assisting
with the creation of monthly e-newsletter, the eVestor
- Communicating
directly with members on various topics and events
Event Planning and Coordination
- Assisting
with organizing seminars and networking events
- Assisting
with marketing the events, communicating and identifying potential
participants
- Assisting
with creating materials
Marketing Material Preparation
- Assisting
with creating marketing materials
- Uploading,
printing and assembling marketing materials
Website Maintenance
- Assisting
with website administration
- Assisting
with updating website pages
- Researching
web-resources/page links
Government and Public Relations
- Assisting
with writing press releases
- Assisting
with press communications
Angel Investment Research
- Contacting
professionals serving as intermediaries in early stage investments, e.g.
lawyers and accountants
- Compiling
and maintaining angel network list
- Various
other research activities
